The Olive Shoot site was created after reading verse 3 from the book of Psalms chapter 128 some time ago. Understanding what precedes that chapter in Psalm 127, it tells us of the LORD being the true Builder of the home AND what is done in our home must be based on a humble dependence upon Him. This passage tells us to look to God and to reverentially fear Him. He'll in turn bless us with gifts, our children. Psalm 128 mentions children being "olive shoots" around the table. This is what we've learned about a real olive tree. Olive shoots spring up from the roots near the base of the tree. Olive trees have a deep root system which keeps them firmly grounded and thriving even in a drought season. We've learned also that given a good fertile ground to grow, these olive shoots will become strong trees producing great fruit. Using this symbolism here in comparing our children to the "shoots".....we desire them to be just like that...yet grafted and rooted into Jesus, their Gardner. He, who gives the nourishing sap, will keep them flourishing for many days and years to come.
We, as parents, will continue to pray for, direct and give Godly-wisdom when needed to our children. Even though we are sinners, Grace will be the glue that keeps us all together. Without the shed blood of Jesus and recognizing what He did on the Cross for our family, we couldn't make it. But Praise the Lord, He did what He did so that we could get to God through repentance of sin and depend upon Him for the rest of our lives, eternally! Because we have been given this Good News message of Salvation through Jesus Christ, we are desiring to fulfill what the verse in Matthew 5:14b says. That verse says, "...a city (or family) on a hill cannot be hidden." We WILL let our light so shine for all to see the glory of our great God in Salvation. Amen! Thus the reason for this website.
May the Eubanks Family continue to look to Jesus (Hebrews 12:1-2) till He returns in bodily form to take us to our heavenly home we yearn for!
